One of the most beautiful and panoramic trail around Tremosine sul Garda is definitely the one that leads to Campione del Garda. The trail is 7 km long, and a return trip will take about 4 hours.
In some stages, it requires a steady, confident pace, in addition to appropriate trekking knowledge. There are 924 meters altitude difference that separate the village of Pieve from Campione.
The starting point of this trail is the church of Pieve. From there, follow path 141 descending steeply towards the lake, with beautiful views of Mount Baldo. The path also passes a "Cuel" with votive images, until it crosses path 150, which continues straight ahead, along the lake to Campione del Garda.
Campione is a small town, founded in the last century, and characterized by the urban structure of a ‘factory-village’, with a the cotton mill that is no longer in operation, workers' houses, a manor house and a church. After the first part of the walk you can take enjoy the nearby beach to relax, but also to admire Lake Garda up close, with many sailors and windsurfers enjoying the famous Garda wind.
On the way back to Tremosine sul Garda, follow another path that enters the San Michele gorge, climbing towards Pregasio and Tremosine sul Garda. The trail number is 110 and it starts near the stream. From there, you will enter a narrow ravine dominated by impressive stratified cliffs, and climb up steps carved into the rock - this was the only path for the workers who walked to the factory by the lake, until a few decades ago.
After a short stretch going through a tunnel, you will cross a bridge to the other side, and leave behind the holm oaks patch that surrounds the steepest part of the path, to enter olive groves and vegetable gardens. Then, you will cross the place known as Lo, and then, a little further, reach Pregasio. From Pregasio, follow the paved road leading you to Pieve di Tremosine sul Garda, the starting point of the excursion.
