Flora

Floating block

The territory of Tremosine sul Garda is covered by lush vegetation, including extensive forest areas and meadows on the plateau, Mediterranean scrub and olive groves along the lake shore and on the hills.

This botanical variety changes according to altitude and terrain, both considerably diverse.

The Mediterranean flora of Lake Garda

Starting from the bottom of the valley, let’s follow the Gardesana road that connects Tremosine sul Garda to the lake - the road is surrounded by exotic and Mediterranean species such as agaves, bougainvillea, citrus and cypress trees, palm, magnolia and cedars of Lebanon.

Colourful broom, lavender and oleander bushes can be found in inhabited areas, while caper plants climb along dry-stone walls.

Along the Strada della Forra, Brasa valley and Porto Pieve path, all easy to access, we can find unique varieties such as the Judas tree, the manna tree and puzzlegrass, a rare primitive plant.

To reach the Tremosine sul Garda plateau it is necessary to climb up the hills, covered with lush olive groves used to produce Garda Olive Oil. Alongside cultivated areas we can find low-altitude woodlands, with tree species like holm oak, downy oak, ash, laurel, hazel and hawthorn.

The Tremosine sul Garda plateau and the mountains

Higher up, heading towards the mountains from 1000 to 1800 meters above sea level, we’ll find ourselves being surrounded by forests - there are extensive beech and spruce fir forests, with trees like spruce or larch, beech and mountain maple. The peaks of the Tombea and Caplone mountains are dotted with rhododendrons, heather, gentian and some species of endemic orchids.

Let's not forget the undergrowth, which feeds the wildlife found in the Alto Garda Bresciano Park, and cheers mushroom pickers in the autumn mornings. Porcini, chiodini and chanterelles, field mushrooms and dozens of other mushroom species can be found in the forest around Tremosine sul Garda.

Also, let’s not forget the fragrant Black Truffle, present in 14 varieties and featured in many local recipes.

The plant variety of the Alto Garda Bresciano Park is well known and appreciated by botanists from all over the world. Come and discover it!
