The products of the Tremosine sul Garda Pastures
The uncontaminated pastures of the Alto Garda Bresciano Park are the ideal location to breed cattle and goats, and produce excellent cheeses and dairy products with their milk.
The mountain pastures and farms located among the fields around Tremosine sul Garda offer ricotta, fresh goat and cow cheeses, aromatic malga butter and - naturally - traditional Tremosine sul Garda cheese.
Goat Cheeses
Goat cheeses are just a small niche in the vast Tremosine sul Garda cheese production.
In summer, goats graze in the high pastures, heading towards the valley in the cooler months, thanks to the presence of an environment that blends Alpine and Mediterranean features.
This unique biodiversity offers excellent cheeses with intense aromas - with every bite you can appreciate the scents of herbs and flowers of the fields where the goats feed. This is why the taste of cheeses is always different, and changes according to the pastures.
Among the most famous goat's milk products you can taste fresh and aged caciotta, as well as goat formaggelle, a fresh cheese variety.
In Tremosine you can get close to cheese makers and their life, not just tasting their cheeses, but also spending a day sampling mountain products, and getting to know farm animals through educational initiatives aimed at children.
Fresh cheese, ricotta and mountain butter
Tremosine dairies produce excellent fresh ricotta, perfect as a fresh pasta filling or as a base for a delicious mousse.
Malga butter completes the range of Tremosine sul Garda mountain products, lending a unique flavour to pasta or fish dishes and desserts.
Among the traditional products of the area, besides the famous Garda PDO and the Formagella di Tremosine sul Garda, don’t forget to taste Latte Crudo, a cheese produced by the Alpe del Garda dairy.
Why Latte Crudo? It means ‘raw milk’ in Italian, because this cheese is made with fresh, unpasteurized milk - a truly special cheese!
Curious fact - goat breeds raised in the park.
The Alto Garda Bresciano Park is home to wild animal species in the woods, as well as traditional Alpine breeds, like Chamois goats, Saanen goats and some cross breeds.
