This cultural itinerary, with a very panoramic and scenic ring route, will lead you to the discovery of Pieve, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, as well as of other Tremosine sul Garda villages, and its diverse landscapes due to the particular geographical position of the 'plateau.
The starting point of the itinerary is the village of Pieve di Tremosine sul Garda, that you can spend a few hours visiting. This marvellous village has an intact medieval historic centre and offers unique views, as well as breathtaking panoramic points. Among the various local attractions, we can’t fail to mention Arturo Cozzaglio’s round staircase, the square of the same name and the church dedicated to San Giovanni Battista.
Continuing south on viale Europa, you will reach the MUST, the Museo Tremosine sul Garda Storia e Territorio, an museum dedicated to the history and territory of Alto Garda, open from April to November. And trust me… you simply MUST visit! You’ll get the opportunity to discover history, tradition, culture of the area, and Great War events, and you’ll be able to visit Villa Paradiso, a Liberty-style building dating back to the early 1900s, now renovated.
From MUST, take the path that leads to Vagne and a little further on to Lò, once the site of an ancient stone quarry, surrounded by a Mediterranean landscape of olive groves. The feeling of being immersed in a fascinating panorama here is really strong, thanks to the geographical position of the Tremosine plateau, its geological structure and the presence of the lake that influences the climate, flora and fauna of the whole territory. This is an example of synergy between the lake and the mountain environment.
From there, you can easily reach the historic center of Pregasio, a village located 478 meters above sea level. Make sure you stop to visit the small 16th century church dedicated to San Marco, with its beautiful bell tower and its surrounding wall.
After touring Pregasio, we’ll proceed onwards along via XXV Aprile, via San Marco and via Vigne, following the road up to the indications for Mezzema. Here you enter the village of Mezzema through via Cortili: this village at 570 meters above sea level still has part of a Roman epigraph walled up in an ancient house.
Continuing along via Costa Pelaa and then via delle Valli, we’ll stay on the main road and cross a beautiful deciduous forest. Soon afterwards, you’ll reach Secastello, at 610 meters above sea level, where you can quickly visit the chapel dedicated to Sant'Antonio with Madonna and Child.
Walk down Via Predaione and Via del Rebaldino to reach Sompriezzo, a bit further down with its 556 meters above sea level: here you can visit the small eighteenth-century church dedicated to the Madonna della Salute, in the square of the same name.
Continuing along the lanes of the village, you’ll gradually descend to the 480 meters above sea level of Musio, a village that can be easily reached from Sompriezzo, housing a small church from 1729 dedicated to San Francesco di Paola and restored in recent years.
Following on the main road, via Cavalieri di Vittorio Veneto, you will return to Pieve di Tremosine sul Garda, after having visited several villages and enjoyed the nature of the territory.
